Final Year Project

Project Title

Beyond The Syllabus: The Role Of Academic Support In Bridging Gaps For Disabled Students

Description

My project assessed academic accommodations for students with disabilities in Pakistani universities, examining availability, effectiveness, and perceptions. As a student with ADHD, I experienced firsthand the challenges of navigating university without support. When I eventually accessed accommodations, the dramatic improvement in my academic performance and well-being inspired this research. Findings show limited accommodation availability, with low awareness among students and faculty. Students with invisible disabilities (including mental health conditions) often hesitate to seek help due to stigma or unclear procedures. While faculty express willingness to support, their efforts are hindered by inadequate training and inconsistent institutional policies. The study highlights the urgent need for better awareness campaigns, streamlined processes, and faculty training to create truly inclusive academic environments.
