In conversation with Seyyed Vali Reza Nasr


Seyyed Vali Reza Nasr comes from an illustrious Iranian family. His father, Hossein Nasr, is an internationally respected scholar of Islam who has written extensively on Islamic history and philosophy.

Nasr, who is now the dean of the Paul H Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, left his native country in 1976 to study in the United Kingdom. After the Iranian Revolution in 1979, he migrated to the United States where he first studied at Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and later at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
