The Office of Human Resources at Habib University continuously puts effort into strengthening the fabric of our institution, nurturing a culture of continuous learning, engagement, and inclusivity within our vibrant community. In the past quarter, the Office of Human Resources at Habib University has introduced several HR initiatives that highlight our commitment to professional development and leadership excellence.
Empowering Learning Culture
At Habib University, our learning philosophy revolves around a commitment to epistemic reparations. This ideology guides our Learning and Development (L&D) programs by addressing knowledge gaps through inclusive and contextualized learning. These programs aim to create an intellectual learning environment for our students and staff.
This quarter, the Office of Human Resources at Habib launched several programs focused on staff learning and professional growth, ensuring that our community continues to improve and evolve with the changing circumstances.
Learning Champions Program
The initiative that has succeeded in making a significant impact on our staff is Learning Champions, a program featuring an internal team of trainers conducting workshops, and sharing their skills and expertise. Over the past year, more than six Learning Champions have shared their skills and knowledge through hands-on sessions, making our community’s learning experience more personal and inclusive.
In October 2023, the program’s inaugural workshop, “A Framework for Good Writing, Editing, and Building Narratives” was facilitated by Muhammad Altamash, Head of Content Strategy and Publications Development. This workshop aimed to provide practical skills for content and copy production. It emphasized effective communication and narrative-building, equipping participants with immediately applicable skills in their respective departments.
Inspiring Leadership Excellence
Leadership development is crucial to our institution’s success, and the InspireXcellence Leadership Program is a successful example. Through targeted workshops and training, this program equips individuals with essential skills to create a dynamic environment that meets our community’s evolving needs and supports Habib University’s long-term vision.
This year, the program included two key workshops, starting with “Inclusive Leadership” held in February, and led by Asma Mustafa Khan. It focused on building authentic connections and an inclusive mindset among the leaders in our community.
The second workshop “Impactful Interactions” was held in May at our Community Engagement Centre. This session provided a space for reflective conversations, aiming to enhance leadership skills through impactful communication.
21st Century Skills Development Program
Our commitment to continuous reskilling and upskilling is evident in the 21st Century Skills Development Program. In collaboration with Akademos, we hosted a comprehensive Power BI training session, led by our Learning and Development Specialist, engaging over 45 participants.
The Power BI 201 training aimed to equip participants with advanced tools and skills for efficient data analysis. The workshop, divided into two parts, combined theoretical learning with practical assignments, allowing participants to create insightful dashboards and master Power BI tools. This hands-on workshop imparted essential data analysis skills, ensuring our staff remains future-ready.
EmpowerHER: Elevating Women’s Experience at Work
The EmpowerHER Program at Habib University focuses on creating a supportive environment for women in our community through skill-building and personal growth initiatives.
The “Driving Change – Auto Mechanics Workshop”, conducted in collaboration with Indus Motor Company, offered practical car maintenance skills to our female staff. This session was designed to boost confidence and independence among female participants, equipping them with essential automotive knowledge.
The “Vitality Unleashed Health Forum & Wellness Camp” focused on promoting health and wellness, highlighting the importance of well-being in both personal and professional spheres. Another workshop on “Mindful Investments” provided valuable insights into financial planning and management. This session aimed to equip women with effective tools to manage their finances and build a secure financial future.
