Habib University Signs an MoU with K-Electric

Habib University’s Career Curation Program (CCP), a flagship initiative, falls in line with the institution’s commitment to ensuring student success by preparing students for successful career pathways. A unique aspect of CCP is its collaboration with industry, enabling students to undertake industry projects in the summer to gain work experience and network with industry professionals.

On February 7, 2024, Habib University and K-Electric (KE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under the University’s flagship initiative, the Career Curation Program, aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry.

Muhammad Rizwan Dalia, Chief People Officer at K-Electric, and Yasmeen Bano, Vice President of Student Success at Habib University, are signing an MoU.

During the ceremony, the K-Electric team expressed a shared commitment to enhancing talent development and bridging industry skill gaps. Following this, Habib University’s team presented a comprehensive overview of forthcoming engagements within the Career Curation Program, which will enrich student learning experiences from this partnership.

The recent partnership will help in developing symbiotic relationships with industry leaders, providing meaningful industry experience to Habib University’s students, particularly those in engineering, and market insights to the University, while granting industry access to the future talent pool. Under the flagship Career Curation Program (CCP), the Office of Career Services at Habib University offers career information sessions, skill-building courses, workshops, and counseling sessions to help students develop real-world skills and determine their career path. In the first two years of undergraduate education, CCP helps students learn to craft their career plans, acquire professional skills, develop their career tools, and attain industry exposure. While in the final two years, CCP helps them to advance their readiness as per their choice, i.e., one may focus on entrepreneurial learning or choose an industry readiness track or may enroll for graduate school preparation.

An exemplary instance from this partnership is demonstrated by Badar Irfan Azeemi, an Electrical Engineering graduate from Habib University’s Class of 2023. Badar is currently employed as a Trainee Engineer in Distribution Operations at K-Electric, having been recruited through the competitive K-Electric Future Engineer Leadership Program (FELP). KE’s program has enabled Badar to undergo comprehensive training and identify gaps within the distribution network, showcasing the practical application of his skills.

Habib University takes pride in partnering with leading organizations from various sectors. These include, but are not limited to, K-Electric, Systems Limited, Seed Ventures, IAL Saatchi & Saatchi, Habib Bank Limited, United Bank Limited, and Jaffer Business Systems. Through these partnerships, Habib University is nurturing the next generation of industry leaders and ensuring the best undergraduate experience in Pakistan.
