Habib University and Getz Pharma Pvt. Limited sign MOU to facilitate students in the Covid-era
On September 23, 2020, Habib University and Getz Pharma Pvt. Limited joined hands to help students transition into the new academic normal at a MOU signing ceremony held at Habib University. President, Habib University, Wasif A. Rizvi, CEO, Getz Pharma Pvt. Limited, Khalid Mahmood and CEO, Habib University Foundation, Parvez Ghias signed the document.

With this agreement, both will work together to provide technical support for students who are unable to access the infrastructure required to continue their education effectively in the post-Covid environment. By bridging the digital divide and ensuring a quality education to all students, Habib University and Getz Pharma Pvt. Limited will collectively prepare a highly skilled pool of human resources who are able to contribute to national development in the ‘new normal’.

The MOU signing ceremony was held in the University boardroom and adhered to Covid-19 guidelines. President Wasif A. Rizvi welcomed Khalid Mahmood and the Getz Pharma (Pvt.) Ltd. team and acknowledged their generous and impactful corporate social responsibility activities. He described how Habib University, like many organizations, is now faced with making a quick transition to a new post-Covid reality, and the critical role Getz Pharma is playing during the Covid-19 crisis.
The teams from Getz Pharma (Pvt.) Ltd and Habib University met for a MOU signing ceremony for COVID relief, at the University campus and followed social distancing protocols.
“The leading economic forces in the world are no longer states – they are corporations and companies – and they have a clear role in helping the society deal with this challenge and transition. Getz Pharma has stepped up and understood the challenge… of helping students overcome the digital divide, so that they remain engaged with their education. Our collaboration with Getz Pharma… can be an academic and intellectual example.”
Addressing the audience, Yasmeen Bano, Director Student Success described the University’s transition to a digital environment during the Covid-19 crisis.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the digital divide and affected the performance of deserving students who do not have access to online platforms during campus closure. The technology support for students from Getz Pharma has arrived at a crucial time.” Ms. Bano explained.
CEO of Getz Pharma, Khalid Mahmood voiced his support for a liberal arts educational model, particularly in times of crisis:
“I wish the University more strength and power to spread knowledge. It is invaluable that the University is creating a new generation that understands its history and the importance of harmonizing society. HU graduates will turn out to be citizens of this country and the world, who will bring peace. Only with peace and progress can this country develop. It cannot develop only by having more business schools.”
