We are pleased to announce that Dr. Aamir Hasan has assumed the position of Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty effective August 1, 2021.
Dr. Hasan replaces Dr. Christopher Taylor, who had joined Habib University in January 2019, from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, as Dean of Faculty & Vice President Academic Affairs. Dr. Taylor, transitioned to a similar role at the Al Akhawayn University in Morocco, after serving nearly three years at Habib University.
In addition to Interim VPAA, Dr. Hasan will continue to hold the office of Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education and Accreditation as well as continue his teaching assignments as an Associate Professor for the Electrical Engineering program.
Dr. Hasan’s experience as a lecturer at the University of Texas Austin and visiting faculty for graduate and undergraduate courses at Air University and Center for Advanced Studies in Engineering (CASE) has honed his skills not only as a distinguished scholar, but also as a deeply committed academic leader. He is also the recipient of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for his contributions in design and implementation of Pakistan Air Force Next Generation Networks.
At Habib University, Dr. Hasan has been instrumental to the advancement of our academic programs; he initially helped design the Electrical Engineering curriculum and thereafter has led redesign efforts and external review of numerous key academic programs.
During his tenure, Dr. Hasan aims to prioritise academic excellence as the University strives to become a regional center of academic excellence among undergraduate-focused liberal arts institutions. “By any stretch of the imagination this is a tall task that can only be accomplished by treading the paths of shared governance, transparency and great work ethic,” says Dr Hasan, emphasizing on the need for consistent improvements through self-assessments, robust processes, plans and frameworks.
The Habib University leadership and community would like to congratulate Dr. Hasan and wish him success in his new role.
