Through the medium of film, this screening will look at how design and nature have interacted in the past; through indigenous knowledge of natural environments and experiences of local communities living in conjunction with nature.

It will then look at our present day needs, through urban wilderness examples such as Margalla Hills National Park and the Indus Delta communities, and will analyze factors such as development, encroachment, tourism and pollution.

In the last part, a simulation of Karachi in the next few decades will be presented, allowing for a collective discussion on ways in which we can design more sustainable futures whilst adapting to an ever-changing environment.

This workshop is offered by The Dawood Foundation (TDF).

TDF Nature Series is a collection of documentaries that capture the variety of ecosystems, habitats and the diverse flora and fauna that form the natural heritage of Pakistan, in order to raise awareness regarding its conservation.
