Habib University Convocation 2026: President Wasif Rizvi Calls for Humility in an Age of Narcissism

President Wasif Rizvi challenges the Class of 2026 to reject global narcissism and embrace Tawaduʿ and Humility.

In his poignant 2026 Convocation address, President Wasif Rizvi challenged the graduating class to reject a toxic global order driven by a “crisis of cognition,” where attention is commodified into continuous, envious self-display amidst ecological and geopolitical devastation. Moving from the playful student moniker of transitioning “From Delulu to Solulu,” he framed true resolution not through worldly triumph, but through the radical practice of Tawadu, the intellectual instrument required to shatter the isolated, “skull-sized kingdom” of narcissism. Contrasting Western educational models that breed arrogance with Habib University’s foundational architecture of grace, institutional generosity, and Yohsin, Rizvi charged the graduates to remain soft-hearted, intellectually sharp trustees of the earth, using their education as a lifelong mechanism for ethical repair.

President Wasif Rizvi urged the Class of 2026 to carry forward the timeless values of Yohsin into the world beyond. “Let the measure of your life be not what you will gather, but what you will repair, and the repair has no end, because the violence has no end.”
