Learn Abroad Program

Habib University students are invited to apply to the Learn Abroad Program at the following three leading institutions in the United States every summer: Stanford University, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and the University of California, Berkeley. All three programs offer opportunities to learn at top international universities, experience a foreign culture, benefit from diverse perspectives, and connect with peers from around the world.

demonstrated social responsibility are encouraged to apply. The program seeks individuals ready to thrive
in rigorous academic settings and contribute meaningfully to diverse communities abroad.

Year Requirement

Applicant must be a sophomore (2nd year) or junior (3rd year) full-time student at Habib University

Program Selection

Applicant can choose one preferred university of interest from Stanford University, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor or the University of California Berkeley and must indicate their choice clearly on the application form.

At the time of submitting the application, it is mandatory that the applicant must upload a scanned copy of passport.

Grades Requirement

Minimum CGPA required for a funded (scholarship) spot: 3.50 CGPA

Minimum CGPA required for a non-funded spot: 3.00 CGPA

Applicants must upload their latest transcript via application form, the document uploaded is forwarded to Office of Registrar for verification purposes.

Code of Conduct clearance

No conduct case filed against the applicant for any of the following: Plagiarism, cheating, theft, vandalism, bullying, sexual harassment and misconduct, use of drugs/alcohol/weapons, physical assault, or severe violation of operational policies of the University.

A list of all eligible applicants is forwarded to the Office of Conduct, the office shares clearance and conduct record of relevant applicants.

  • In case the students have any charges against them, but they have cleared all the sanctions before they apply for the program, they are eligible.
  • In case of any current conduct, the applicant is disqualified from the program.

Financial clearance

Applicants must have no outstanding University fees at the time of submitting application.

A list of all eligible applicants is shared with the Office of Student Finance who are responsible for sharing the financial status of these applicants.

  • In case of any outstanding payment(s), students are directed to clear their dues before the application deadline.

Personal Statement

Applicant is provided with a set of questions that must all be answered at the time of form submission

Meta-Curricular Experienc

Applicant must submit a Meta-Curricular experience form that contains a list of activities undertaken by the student at Habib University

The list of activities may include: achievements/participation in co-curricular activities, community service, leadership roles, internship or work experience at Habib University

Meta-Curricular experience form is evaluated by the Office of Student Recruitment and Admissions

Student Presentation

The presentation is an opportunity for applicants to convince jury members as to why they should be selected.

Each presentation slot is a total of 15 minutes in which all applicants who fulfill the basic eligibility criteria are invited to make a presentation of 8 minutes in front of a jury, which is followed by a question/answer session for the remaining duration of time.

Jury consists of two panel members, including one faculty member and one staff member assigned by the Office of Global Engagement.

The mode of presentation is not restricted to a PowerPoint Presentation. Applicants are allowed to use any creative way of making their presentation using different tools and strategies.

Applicant’s presentation should cover answers to the following given questions:

  • Why do you wish to participate in the Learn Abroad Program?
  • What key skills are you hoping to enhance by participating in the program and why are they important for you to develop?
  • Which courses would you choose and why? Share at least three courses.
  • What three specific areas or aspects of Stanford University, Michigan or UC Berkeley would you like to explore and why?
  • How will you share your learning experiences with your peers after returning from the program?
  • Why should you be selected for the program?

Presentation is followed by Q/A session

The average score of both the faculty and staff is used for the evaluation of the presentation

Results

Results are based on sum of scores taken from Presentation, Statement of Purpose and Meta-curricular experience which are calculated through set weightages and rubric tool.
