Trade and Power Politics in the Indian Ocean
Description
My thesis paper is analyzing the pivotal role that the Indian Ocean played in trade between the East and the West throughout history and the effects of power politics in the maritime region. The central focus of the research is the maritime trade between the 14th and 18th centuries with a brief overview of the history leading to this time frame as well as the period following it, mainly focusing on the methods and purpose of trade adapted by different nations and companies, and how the dynamics of this system of exchange changed over centuries.
