Final Year Project

Project Title

PlayLab, an Interactive Storytelling Application

Description

How do we make stories more engaging for children with varying attention spans? Worked on a hand gesture tool to make stories interactive for children by creating PlayLab, a 3D storytelling application. It uses Leap Motion Controller, an input sensor device to actively track user’s hands. This tracked data is processed by the powerful back-end gesture recognition engine that recognizes gestures using machine learning techniques. Recognized hand gestures are mapped to an action in the 3D story space, interactively engaging the user as the story unravels. This environment fosters curiosity and allows users to behave creatively. The goal of this capstone project is to make a prototype application that combines hand gestures with Children-Computer Interaction, and serve as proof of concept. This is a joint project with Anusha Fatima.
