Project Title

The State of Affairs Surrounding Sex Reassignment Surgeries Conducted on Transgender and Intersex Individuals in Pakistan.

Description

My thesis is an exploratory qualitative research study which aims to explore the state of affairs surrounding sex reassignment surgeries that are conducted on transgender and intersex individuals in Karachi, Pakistan. It aims to find out how SRS is perceived, performed and experienced by the various stakeholders involved in the field. It utilizes purposive and snowball sampling methods to interview (and conduct FGDs with) the relevant stakeholders involved in the field (such as intersex experts, doctors, transgender individuals, intersex individuals, psychologists, lawyers, trans-rights activists etc.).
