Final Year Project

Project Title

Fishing and Capitalism on the Coasts of Pakistan

Description

The aim of this research was to study the fishing community in Karachi and explore whether they were, like the rest of us, bound by the shackles of capitalism. I found that most fishermen buy boats by taking loans from capitalists, and then spend most of their earnings paying back that loan, only keeping a minimal amount for themselves and their families. This loan keeps the fisherman bound to the capitalist so he must only sell his fish in the market and so, he is tied to the chains of capitalism.
