Final Year Project

Project Title

Protection Scheme for Renewable Energy Integrated Microgrids

Description

This project aims to combat the problems microgrids face when running alone in islanding mode. Microgrids are networks of distributed generation (DG) units but when they are integrated with the national grid, many problems occur that make the conventional protection schemes unusable in these circumstances. For this reason, we have chosen to work on this project by developing a protection scheme on MATLAB/Simulink where we created the entire system of a model microgrid, incorporated different protection relays, and analyzed the impact of inserting solar-based energy in our system and the impact it has on the performance of our system.
