Final Year Project

Project Title

Mapping Road Quality and Affecting Environmental Parameters on Road Networks in Karachi using IoT

Description

My Capstone project aims to develop a low-cost, sustainable, smart IoT, IMU-based device for measuring the International Roughness Index (IRI) of roads. The device will be mounted on vehicles and will utilize an IMU to measure the surface profile of the road in real-time. The sensor data will be transmitted to a server via a wireless connection for processing and analysis, with the IRI calculated to provide a measure of road surface roughness. The project also aims to map the IRI with environmental parameters to create a trained model for predicting the quality of roads with variations in environmental conditions. The goal is to provide a cost-effective and sustainable solution for monitoring and maintaining road quality, which can be used by municipalities and transportation departments to improve quality of roads.
