Project Title

OpenDSS-Based Planning of Distribution Networks

Description

The dynamics of power distribution systems are changing due to new technologies and require new tools to improve planning and real-time understanding. The prototype combines a DSS script and a Python interface to analyze the circuit using OpenDSS. The Python shell eliminates the need to work with Delphi code directly. The focus was on gaining expertise in simulation software and understanding power flow through labs and books. The team has gained proficiency in OpenDSS and validated a test feeder using PyDSS. The next steps are to make intelligent changes to OpenDSS and analyze a larger system. The ultimate goal is to have time-varying results.
