Final Year Project

Project Title

Road Health Monitoring System

Description

The project aims to develop a device for measuring the International Roughness Index (IRI) of roads; will be mounted on vehicles and will utilize an IMU to measure the surface profile of the road in real-time. The sensor data will be transmitted to a server via a wireless connection for processing and analysis, with the IRI calculated to provide a measure of road surface roughness. The project also maps the IRI with environmental parameters to create a trained model for predicting the quality of roads with environmental conditions within a city. The ultimate goal is to provide a cost-effective and sustainable solution for monitoring and maintaining road quality, which can be used by municipalities and transportation departments to improve the quality of roads by predicting it using varying environmental parameters.
