Final Year Project

Project Title

EthnoVerse: Immersive Cultural Preservation through 3D Gaussian Splatting

Description

EthnoVerse is a digital humanities project that leverages 3D Gaussian Splatting to create immersive, high-fidelity reconstructions of culturally significant spaces and artifacts. The project aims to preserve and reinterpret South Asian heritage by transforming physical environments into interactive digital experiences accessible through web-based platforms. By combining computer graphics, photogrammetry, and narrative design, EthnoVerse enables users to engage with cultural sites beyond static documentation. The research explores the efficiency and realism of 3DGS compared to traditional reconstruction methods, highlighting its potential for scalable heritage preservation. Ultimately, the project contributes to bridging technology and cultural storytelling, offering a novel approach to archiving, education, and public engagement with endangered or underrepresented cultural narratives in accessible and meaningful ways.
