Final Year Project

Project Title

The Role that Education Plays on Terrorist Activity in Pakistan: A Time Series Analysis

Description

Terrorism is defined as "the premeditated use or threat of the use of extraordinary violence through intimidation of a large audience, usually not directly involved with decision-making" (Enders & Hoover, 2014). Some claim that it is caused by political reasons while others claim it's economic or social. This paper focuses on the impact that education plays on different types of terrorist activity. The hypothesis that it aims to test is whether a rise in education results in a rise in terrorist activity. It aims to study quantitatively and qualitatively whether a rise in education is positively correlated with a rise in terrorist activity in Pakistan from 1971 to 2018. It controls for variables such as the census, poverty, unemployment, and population to improve the validity of the results.
