Project Title
Autonomous Drone for Pre-Rescue Disaster Mapping of Interior Environments
Description
The purpose of this project is to program a drone to navigate an indoor space autonomously. The drone would operate in a GPS denied environment and therefore, use SLAM for localization and mapping. The drone would have the path planning capability to plan shortest path and exit the space while avoiding obstacles. Such a drone can be deployed in a disaster struck environment, provide a 30 map of the scene to the first responders. The first responders will then be able to use the map to plan their rescue accordingly. This would allow them to reduce risk, and make informed decisions in less time.
