Final Year Project

Project Title

Creation and Demolition of Space in the City for the Migrant Hawker

Description

My thesis is on the community of hawkers in the city of Karachi. It was inspired by the anti-encroachment drive in 2018 where all of the street hawkers, with a majority of them being Afghanis, were displaced. This informal structure of bazaars was merged with an illegal structure to form the basis of massive displacements. This research provides possible solutions and insight into urban development problems, which are not sufficiently addressed by the policymakers at present.
