The Impact of Linkedin on Social Capital Formation

Description

Karachi, Pakistan's biggest city, has over 17 million diverse residents, mirrored in its music: pop, Qawali, rap. This study explores how culture and socio-economics shape musical tastes, using survey data (convenience and snowball sampling) and external research. I mapped genre trends across districts, finding English music leads, then Urdu and Hindi, mostly from Europe and North America. Pop and rap dominate; folk lags. In South Karachi, under-18s and 18-24s favor North American and European pop and rap. These findings could inform urban planners, policymakers, and artists. I used surveys, interviews, and secondary research to identify Karachi's seven districts' most prevalent music genres and their causes. Secondary research and Stata analysis (regressions, graphs) supported the data. I conducted qualitative research with a survey (close to 200 responses) and self-created, self-conducted interviews.
