Final Year Project
Project Title
Guriya Ka Ghar
Description
My final year project is a dollhouse encapsulating the life of the daughter-in-law in her marital house. The exterior shows the peaceful façade of a home, while the interior exposes matriarchal surveillance, unrecognized labor, and conditional belonging a daughter-in-law has to undergo in her "Asli ghar." The layout reveals the authority in-laws hold over the house and the daughter-in-law’s access to spaces and resources within it. This installation uncovers the in-laws' house as the residence she is allowed to live in if she surrenders her identity and performs like a ‘achi bahu’.
