Final Year Project

Project Title

The Untold Demography of Karachi’s Slums: Rethinking Fertility Patterns in Orangi Town

Description

This study explores fertility patterns in Orangi Town, one of the largest informal settlements in Karachi. Using a mixed-method approach, it combines demographic measures (like fertility rates and population structure) with statistical analysis to examine how factors such as education, income, healthcare access, and contraceptive use influence fertility. Qualitative interviews further provide insight into residents’ reproductive choices and challenges. The research aims to inform urban planning and reproductive health policies for underserved populations.
