Description

This final year project is a user-centered mobile application developed with React Native, Python, and PostgreSQL to streamline the commuting experience for Karachi’s BRT users. Designed with Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) principles, the app prioritizes accessibility for low-literacy users through a multilingual, icon-based interface and voice-assisted navigation. The core functionality utilizes a multi-directional graph and a modified Dijkstra’s algorithm to compute optimized routes based on user preferences: shortest distance, fastest time, least transfers, or cheapest fare. Key features include real-time bus tracking within a 5 km radius, accurate ETA predictions, and "first-and-last-mile" walking directions. By integrating real-world fare estimation and a scalable backend, the system ensures reliable, inclusive urban transit navigation.
