Description
My final year thesis investigates CPEC and its possible impacts on the domestic industry, taking Karachi as a case study. The thesis consists of an analysis of the literature on the relationship between foreign direct investment (FDI) and economic development. I rely on the analysis of several industry experts and key stakeholders that I interviewed for my research to ascertain the type of FDI that is being done under CPEC. Through an extensive literature survey, I also compare CPEC investments with similar projects in China and other developing countries to understand what it would take for CPEC to be successful in Pakistan.
