PDW

The Office of Teaching & Learning (OTL) with its Center for Pedagogical Excellence provides comprehensive, innovative, and inclusive development opportunities aligned with the latest pedagogical research and working towards student-centricity. In this vein, OTL’s Pedagogical Development Week (PDW) held annually in August has offerings (workshops, panel discussions, talks) helping faculty build capacity in terms of teaching and learning. PDW also aims to inspire the community of instructors at Habib University through showcasing the best courses.

Tuning Protocol

‘Tuning Protocol’ curated for the faculty/fellows to address pedagogical challenges and ideas with other instructors at Habib. In this event, an instructor shares a pedagogical challenge or idea with a group of fellow instructors who provide feedback aimed at resolving the issue or enriching the idea. It Worked For Me…

‘It Worked for Me’ is a monthly talk series aimed at creating a space of sharing where faculty/fellows can share their positive pedagogical experiences and innovative teaching approaches with the Habib community of instructors. The instructors in attendance gain new insights and inspiration, which they can apply in their own classrooms. In the past, It Worked for Me has been well-received by the community of faculty/fellows as it provides a platform to exchange ideas and gain new insights.

I Learn Best When…

‘I Learn Best When’ is a monthly panel discussion with students on their learning experiences at Habib University. The discussion, which is open to both instructors and students to attend, aims to dive into how students learn best in a classroom setting and which pedagogical methods, tools and assessments resonate with them the most. This conversation has proven to be an excellent entry point for instructors to learn from their students and work towards improving their own teaching as instructors.

Teaching Excellence Awards

Habib University, with its focus on Yohsin and student-centered learning, invests in the holistic training of its faculty/fellows and recognises their pedagogical achievements. Excellence in teaching is, in fact, the first and foremost quality in our promotion process for faculty to rise to the next rank. Teaching awards are yet another initiative by Habib University to reclaim the importance of inspiring and innovative pedagogy, to create proper evaluation structures around it, to establish impactful dissemination methods and to celebrate and credentialize these crucial advances in higher education. Through this process, Habib University aims to be a leader in pedagogical excellence and innovation.

The goal of this flagship series is to present and discuss ideas about some of the excellent courses that have been introduced at Habib University to the rest of the community to spark conversations that can lead to collaborations across disciplines.
