Ethnography is both the process and outcome of an in-depth study of a culture. Although most associated with the field of anthropology, ethnography as a method is widely used across the social sciences, humanities, and beyond. Countless scholars , writers, and practitioners rely upon ethnography to help make the familiar strange and the strange familiar. Yet, what exactly is ethnography? How do we use it? And, what are the implications of such an approach? In order to better understand this unique methodology, participants will engage with ethnography as a genre of writing, a descriptive approach, and an expansive medium through which to understand place, identity, and social relations.
