Low\r\nvisibility at night, unreliable communication, and GPS\r\ndenial further complicate operations. Aerial surveys\r\nstruggle due to canopy obstruction, and despite\r\nsignificant costs, SAR success rates remain low.\r\n\r\nOur work focuses on an autonomous UAV system for\r\nforest search-and-rescue in simulation. Using\r\nLiDAR-based localization, 3D mapping, and efficient\r\npath planning, our UAV achieves high accuracy in\r\ndense environments. It autonomously navigates using\r\nan optimized exploration strategy that balances\r\ninformation gain and energy efficiency.
