In addition to the hydrological cycle becoming seriously disturbed and resulting in resource depletion, cities are grappling with their own water supply shortage problems. The study is on how the water supply infrastructure in the city is configured in a way that contributes to a situation of crisis in different parts of the city, and that, research objectives are to assess the water supply status in Karachi, especially in townships of Lyrai and Defence, to identify all those factors that may cause water shortages and potentially spur a crisis situation in different neighbourhoods, and finally, to examine water consumption patterns of households in Lyari, and Defence and their connection to modalities of water distribution.
