Description:
Indian-Muslim writers, poets, artists and performers were central to making of the Bombay film industry; they have also been central to its post-liberalisation transformation into Bollywood. My paper examines the cultural politics of the representation of Muslims in recent Bollywood films to study how they negotiate the Islamophobic constructs that are pervasive in national and global politics.
