The talk features selections from the films of Muzaffar Ali followed by a conversation with Dr. Nauman Naqvi, Dean, Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences and Dr. Asif Furrukhi, Director Arzu Center for Regional and Vernacular Languages.

About the speaker: Muzaffar Ali is a renowned filmmaker of Indian origin known for his films Umrao Jan, Gaman, Anjuman, and his most recent film, Jaanisaar. From highlighting the issues of urban migration in Gaman to the colonial past in Umrao Jan and Jaanisaar and the plight of women workers in Anjuman, Muzaffar Ali has followed a rather unusual trajectory. He is also a well-known fashion-designer, poet, artist, music-lover, revivalist, and social worker. He is known for his interest in Sufism and was responsible for the production of an album of selected kalam in the voice of Abida Parveen.
