Karamat Ali
Karamat Ali is a founder member and currently Executive Director, Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER). He is a veteran trade unionist who played an important role in the labour movement of the 1970s and since then has been committed to labour rights, education and capacity building of workers and regional peace advocacy and research. A graduate of University of Karachi, Karamat Ali earned his Master’s degree in Labour Studies from the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, the Netherlands, in 1984. He has written extensively on labour and peace issues for academic journals and the national media.
Alia Amirali
Alia Amirali is a left-wing political worker who has worked closely with various working-class movements, students, women, katchi abadi dwellers, and the landless tenants’ movement in Punjab. She has been actively involved in the rebuilding of the progressive National Students Federation (NSF) of which she served as former General Secretary (Punjab), and also works closely with the Awami Workers Party (AWP). She is also a researcher on the Baloch National Movement, and is currently a lecturer at the Center of Excellence in Gender Studies at Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad.
