About:
In 1938, Sicilian-born Ettore Majorana was one of the most promising young theoretical physicists of his generation. He collaborated with intellectual giants like Niels Bohr, Werner Heisenberg and especially Enrico Fermi, the titans of nuclear research. His research on neutrons, neutrino masses and “Majorana fermions” is of tremendous importance. On March 25, however, he disappeared forever, without leaving a trace.
Over the following decades, several speculations were made. Was he killed? Did he commit suicide? Did he escape to South America? Did he experience a crisis of faith and subsequently shut himself up in a convent? Did he collaborate with Nazis to build nuclear weapons? Did he sense that he was working on something too dangerous, possibly putting at risk the survival of humanity itself?
Nobody ever found out quite what happened to Majorna. The mystery still lingers. By cleverly blending documentary and animation techniques, Nessuno mi troverà stands out as an impressively informative attempt to shed light on the life, the works and the myth of one of the most fascinatingly elusive geniuses of the 20th century.
The screening of the documentary by Egidio Eronico, jointly organized by Habib University’s Center for Media and Design and the Consulate General of Italy in Karachi, will be followed by a Q & A moderated by Prof. Shahbaz Ahmed Alvi.
