Active learning has been robustly shown to produce better student learning outcomes. In his talk, Dr. Darryl Yong will explore the connection between active learning and flipped classroom instruction (the latter involving having students watch video lectures outside of class and participate in learning activities in class), share research findings from a four-year controlled study on flipped classroom instruction that he conducted with other Harvery Mudd faculty, and focus on the goal of having more equitable learning outcomes for students.
