Despite an official bill for the prevention of violence against women, it is an evil that continues to exist. ‘Posheeda Qadam’ is a documentary by filmmaker Ms. Nageen Hyat highlighting how discrimination and harassment of women persist in our society, and how institutions have failed to safeguard women against these. The film features a number of lawyers, activists and politicians including Kamla Bhasin, Haris Khalique, Sherry Rehman and Raza Rabbani commenting on why the situation for women has failed to improve in Pakistan.
The film screening will be followed by a short panel discussion with Habib University students and Ms. Nageen Hyat, to shed light on how we can come together as policy makers, civil society members and as citizens in general, to strengthen institutions that protect the rights of women and ensure that public spaces are safer and more welcoming for women
