When choosing a degree program, humanities is usually the last program on the list (maybe not even on the list) for all but a few. And that very important question: \u201cIs there even a scope for studying humanities in Pakistan?\u201d only intimidates us more. After all, subjects such as literature, philosophy, history, and religion are not seen as having the same weight as, say, pure science subjects. But just like centuries ago, humanities remain important to understanding human experience \u2013 maybe now more than ever!<\/p>\n

Unlike other degrees, the<\/span> comparative humanities degree<\/a> doesn\u2019t just focus on instilling specialized knowledge within students. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"The study of humanities is a broad spectrum relating to human experience. What this achieves is a unique mindset able to look at real-world problems from a larger perspective. Students of comparative humanities also acquire a diverse skill set including critical thinking, creative problem-solving, effective collaboration, social awareness, and research techniques that allow them to fit into a myriad of professional positions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every year thousands of students in Pakistan graduate with popular degrees with individuals of similar qualifications. On top of that, systemic problems such as social inequality, economic crisis, and even lived experiences continue to deteriorate. To tackle such issues, there is a need for change at a baser level \u2013 change in the ways we think. Habib University aims to do exactly that through the comparative humanities program that prepares students to think differently, be flexible, and look at life in the long run rather than just getting a job.<\/p>\n
