Habib University held its annual luncheon for key representatives of leading schools and colleges on January 15, 2019 at its campus. The yearly gathering brings together Habib University\u2019s senior management and key representatives of leading high schools across the city, serving as a platform to renew their mutual commitment towards the betterment of the quality of education in the country.<\/p>\n
Prospective students spend the most critical and formative years of their life at school under the supervision and mentorship of their teachers and counselors who play a pivotal role in their personal growth and development. Consequently, their advice and input hold significant importance for students when making the crucial and challenging decision of choosing a university. As key influencers of the students\u2019 decision making process, school counselors and principals are an important group of stakeholders for the University.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the event, Mr. Wasif Rizvi, President, Habib University (HU), spoke about the value of a student-centered Higher Education institution<\/a>. He went on to explain how factors such as a cutting-edge curriculum, world-class faculty, infrastructure and quality collaborations contribute to the establishment of the all-important student centricity in universities today.<\/p>\n Engaging the broader academic community to positively impact the quality of education at all tiers in a meaningful manner remains a primary focus of Habib University. Through collaboration and collective action, it seeks to change popular perceptions of education, which tend to view it primarily as a means of employment and not much else. The interdisciplinary model of education employed by HU is rooted in the Liberal Arts and offers a paradigm shift in the prevalent notion of education. It seeks to equip students and graduates with the skills and knowledge to play a transformative role in society as leaders and change-agents of tomorrow.<\/p>\n Vice President Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty, Dr. Christopher Taylor spoke about the benefits of a Liberal Arts education<\/a>, and its role in producing future-ready graduates, having the skillset to thrive in the \u2018agile economy\u2019.<\/p>\n Saadia Asad Pathan, valedictorian for the Class of 2018 \u2013 HU\u2019s first graduating cohort \u2013 shared her university experience and career goals. She explained the importance of a Liberal Arts framework of education and presented examples of her academic work to illustrate the profound impact of the enriching, interdisciplinary education she received at Habib University.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
