He was invited to Habib University for a week long study \u2013 conducted through lectures and workshops with students and faculty, to gain an understanding of the culture of education within the institution, and to develop effective pedagogical techniques to improve learning and teaching, as part of the Center for Pedagogical Excellence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/workshops-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4676 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/workshops-1-620x413.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/workshops-1-620x413.png 620w, https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/workshops-1-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/workshops-1.png 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The public lecture was held at the Soorty Hall, and attended not only by the Habib University faculty and students, but also by professionals in the field of education in the city. The talk revolved around his study in pedagogy, his experimentation within his classrooms, and his findings.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Yong discussed the idea of active learning, especially through the act of flipped classrooms and through the inclusion of technology within teaching. He discussed with his audience the nuances and restrictions of classrooms, experimentation, and how he attempted to tackle age-old learning and teaching techniques through their incorporation with his own findings.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_5719.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4678 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_5719-620x413.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_5719-620x413.png 620w, https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_5719-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IMG_5719.png 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cDespite advancements in technology and teaching techniques, lecture style teaching remains one of the most efficient methods of teaching \u2013 it may be not the most effective, but it is by far the most efficient.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Dr. Yong also tackled the assumption that learning is the sole burden of a student. Rather through his workshops, discussion sessions, and lectures, he followed the narrative that both the teacher and the student must be active in their own roles. A teacher must also learn to tailor their lessons according to their students, rather than learning being a one-sided affair.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the professionals in the field of education also included professors from institutes and entrepreneurs who aimed at developing different forms of education \u2013 through websites and videos. Continuous improvement through workshops and seminars are therefore a standard practice.
