Our faculty members have been adding to their collection, books that are not only course related, but also fictional novels and comics of all genres and languages. We asked nine faculty members, both from the school of <a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/academics\/ahss\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (AHSS)<\/strong><\/a> as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/academics\/sse\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>School of Science and Engineering (SSE)<\/strong><\/a>, to tell us about the books that they have been reading, or planning to read.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/AHSS\/dr-noman-baig\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2778\" src=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/mar.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"190\" height=\"220\" \/><\/strong><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/AHSS\/dr-markus-heidingsfelder\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Dr. Markus Heidingsfelder<\/strong><\/a> is a media theorist and documentary filmmaker, teaching at the Communication &amp; Design department at HU. His films and his research in communication media and popular culture have brought him worldwide acclaim.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"urwaSpecial\">\n<li>The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa<\/li>\n<li>The First Man by Albert Camus<\/li>\n<li>Meditations by Marcus Aurelius<\/li>\n<li>The Gay Science by Friedrich Nietzsche<\/li>\n<li>Submission by Michel Houellebecq<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Noman_Baig.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1748\" src=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Noman_Baig.jpg\" alt=\"Noman_Baig\" width=\"190\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/AHSS\/dr-noman-baig\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Dr. Noman Baig<\/strong><\/a> is an anthropologist, with an interest in researching Branchless Banking. He is an Assistant Professor for the <a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/academics\/ahss\/social-development\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Social Development and Policy<\/strong><\/a> program at AHSS.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"urwaSpecial\">\n<li>Bulleh Shah\u2019s Kalam by Dr. Amjad Ali Bhatti<\/li>\n<li>Shah Jo Risalo by Shah Abdul Latif<\/li>\n<li>Aqs-e-Babu by Sultan Bahu<\/li>\n<li>Ethics by Spinoza<\/li>\n<li>Masnavi by Jalal ud din Rumi<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Nicki-Saroca.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1749 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Nicki-Saroca.jpg\" alt=\"Nicki-Saroca\" width=\"190\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/AHSS\/nicki-saroca\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Dr. Nicki Saroca<\/strong><\/a> is a feminist sociologist, teaching Sociology and Gender Studies for over 11 years, and will continue to do so at HU. Her aim is to integrate her research with community service; she has worked with several NGOs in Australia and the Philippines.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"urwaSpecial\">\n<li>A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khalid Hosseni<\/li>\n<li>Feminist Post-Colonial Theory: A Reader by Reina Lewis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/waqar-saleem.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1750 alignleft\" style=\"margin-bottom: 50px;\" src=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/waqar-saleem.jpg\" alt=\"waqar-saleem\" width=\"190\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/SSE\/dr-waqar-saleem\/\"><strong>Dr. Waqar Saleem<\/strong><\/a> is the Program Director for <a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/academics\/sse\/bs-computer-science\/\"><strong>Computer Science<\/strong><\/a>. His interests lie in querying 3D shape repositories and improving on learning-based surface reconstruction from scattered data. He completed his MFA in Trans-disciplinary Design from Parsons, NY. His interest lies in cities and their systems, and is currently working on a research project titled \u2018The Dumb City\u2019, taking a look at the formal and informal transit systems in Karachi.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"urwaSpecial\">\n<li>Between the World and me by Ta-Nehisi Coates<\/li>\n<li>Emergence by Steven Johnson<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Syeda-Saleha-Raza.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1754 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Syeda-Saleha-Raza.jpg\" alt=\"Syeda-Saleha-Raza\" width=\"190\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/SSE\/syeda-saleha\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Dr. Syeda Saleha Raza<\/strong><\/a> is an Assistant Professor for the Computer Science program at SSE. Her Ph.D focused on Artificial Intelligence; she applied imitation learning to build collaborative strategies for a team of autonomous agents.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"urwaSpecial\">\n<li>Jannat kay Pattay by Namra Ahmed<\/li>\n<li>Doing Better Good by Will Macaskill<\/li>\n<li>Akhuwat ka Safar by Amjad Saqib<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Nauman-Naqvi.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1755 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/HU-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Nauman-Naqvi.jpg\" alt=\"Nauman-Naqvi\" width=\"190\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/AHSS\/dr-nauman-naqvi\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Dr. Nauman Naqvi<\/strong><\/a> is the Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/habib.edu.pk\/academics\/habib-core\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Liberal Core<\/strong><\/a> and an Assistant Professor at AHSS. His aim is to combine the histories of both regional and Western humanities and social thought to cultivate a critically strenuous universalism in the students of Habib University.
