Habib University, on January 10, 2026, hosted the naming ceremony of the Jaffer Family Foundation Institute of Design Thinking, Entrepreneurship, and Leadership (IDEAL)<\/a>, marking a landmark endowment gift<\/a> by the Jaffer Family Foundation in support of the University\u2019s commitment to ethical and future ready leadership education.<\/p>\n Joined by his family, friends, industry leaders, and members of the academic community, Mr. Mohamedtaki cut the ribbon, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter for the Institute.<\/p>\n Opening the ceremony, Ms. Manahil Huda, Assistant Director of IDEAL, highlighted the importance of the Institute and acknowledged the generosity of the Jaffer Family Foundation.<\/p>\n \u201cIDEAL is Habib University\u2019s response to the growing need for leadership that is thoughtful, ethical, and deeply engaged with the real world,\u201d she said. \u201cIt brings together students, faculty, industry professionals, and global partners to work on real-world challenges that demand creativity, responsibility, and ethical judgment.\u201d<\/p>\n Addressing the gathering, Mr. Mohamedtaki shared how critical thinking had changed the fortune of his business and why the mission behind IDEAL resonated so strongly with him.<\/p>\n According to Mr. Mohamedtaki, in this rapidly growing world, spaces like IDEAL are no longer optional, they are essential.<\/p>\n \u201cThe JFF Institute of Design Thinking, Entrepreneurship, and Leadership is the University\u2019s most responsive global strategy. It is where theory meets practice, where students learn to navigate complexity and growth.<\/p>\n \u201cPakistan does not need more graduates who memorize answers. It needs thinkers who can raise better questions,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n He concluded by reflecting on the purpose of the Foundation\u2019s support: \u201cEven if a handful of students leave this space believing they can challenge assumptions, serve society, and build it even better, then this investment will have done what it was meant to do.\u201d<\/p>\n A major highlight of the event was the keynote address delivered by Dr. Shannon Randolph, a Stanford-trained PhD and global design thinking expert, and Director of Community and Global Engagement at the Hive at the Claremont Colleges. Her remarks emphasized the necessity of human-centered designs and systems thinking for problems that resist simple solutions.<\/p>\n \u201cLeadership is about bringing people together,\u201d she said. \u201cInnovators never stand alone. They always have communities behind them. Innovation takes a village, and students must learn to look beyond themselves to the people and communities who will become their greatest partners.\u201d<\/p>\n Reflecting on her experience at Habib University, she further described it as one of the most progressive and pioneering models of higher education she has encountered, noting that its emphasis on YOHSIN and community-centered learning sets it apart globally. She observed that IDEAL advances a bold vision that begins with responsibility to society rather than individual achievement and redefines how design, innovation, and entrepreneurship can serve the public good.<\/p>\n Carrying the leadership theme forward, Sindh Education Minister Mr. Syed Sardar Ali Shah reiterated that universities carry responsibilities far beyond disseminating knowledge. He maintained that higher education institutions must cultivate ethical values, interdisciplinary thinking, and the capacity to address complex social challenges.<\/p>\n \u201cThe [Jaffer Family Foundation] Institute of Design Thinking, Entrepreneurship, and Leadership reflects a thoughtful response to a challenge we increasingly recognize — the need to develop leaders who are not only technically capable, but also socially conscious and ethically grounded,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n Habib University President Mr. Wasif Rizvi reflected on how the prerequisite for becoming a leader has shifted over time. In the past, the idea of ethical leadership was evident. Today, that understanding has been turned upside down.<\/p>\n He reaffirmed the University\u2019s commitment to its undergraduate mission while extending its impact beyond campus.<\/p>\n \u201cThere are two fundamental things that we will not give up on, that we will continue to deepen the undergraduate experience and we are going to ensure that even people who have not come to the University, [from]various industry, at various level, from management training level, they approach their roles with the kind of thoughtfulness and ethics that are crucial,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Habib University Chancellor Mr. Muhammad Habib acknowledged the Jaffer Family Foundation and members of the Jaffer Family on their momentous partnership with IDEAL.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Jaffer Family Foundation has supported meaningful causes across the globe, touching lives and communities with a profound sense of purpose and responsibility.
