On May 29th, 2025, Habib University hosted its annual Awards Night, celebrating the academic excellence, leadership, and community contributions of the graduating Class of 2025. From Program and Teaching Awards to the President\u2019s Medal while also announcing the speaker at the Convocation as class valedictorian, the evening honored outstanding achievements across our undergraduate programs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event reflects Habib University\u2019s commitment to a transformative and reparative education, one that empowers students to critically engage with inherited systems and contribute to meaningful change.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The ceremony opened with a warm welcome from Masters of Ceremony Maham Baqir (CH 2026) and Sitara Ali (CH 2028), followed by a recitation of the Holy Quran by Fatimah Riaz (SDP 2027).<\/span><\/p>\n

The audience was then treated to a captivating performance by the Habib University Orchestra, where students performed in harmony with the <\/span>Ustads<\/span><\/i> from the Center for South Asian Music (CSAM).\u00a0 The performance resonated with the audience, reinforcing the University\u2019s vision of integrating the arts into the broader intellectual fabric of university life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Nauman Naqvi shares a heartfelt message on thoughtfulness.<\/p><\/div>\n

Reflecting on the collective journey of the Class of 2025, Dr. Nauman Naqvi, Associate Professor of Comparative Humanities, addressed the graduates with a heartfelt message on the importance of thoughtfulness:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDespite the difficulties that you endure, you never cease in thoughtfulness. Thoughtfulness is the only sanctuary we have in this world, of healing ourselves and the world.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Saleha Raza addresses graduates on values in a tech-driven world.<\/p><\/div>\n

Following him, Dr. Syeda Saleha Raza, Program Director and Associate Professor of Computer Science, offered a timely reminder of the deeper purpose of education in an age of rapid technological advancement:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhile it is important to have knowledge about AI, it is even more important to understand human and social values, morality, and ethics.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Representing the graduating class, Amsal Malik (SDP 2025) delivered a heartfelt address, reflecting on their challenges, growth, and the enduring bonds formed over the four year journey.<\/span><\/p>\n

The ceremony formally commenced with opening remarks from Dr. Aamir Hasan, Vice President of Academic Affairs, who urged graduates to remain vigilant and discerning in a world shaped by selective narratives:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cClass of 2025, be at guard and discern when presented with selective truth, selective justice, rightful but selective outrage\u2026 Beware of the selective goodness, especially from people of power.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

President Wasif Rizvi congratulated the Class of 2025, acknowledging their resilience, intellect, and contributions to the university community. His speech offered a broader reflection on the mission of Habib University and the role its students will play in shaping the future:<\/span><\/p>\n

Assistant Deans and Dr. Hasan presented the Dean\u2019s Medals, recognizing students with exceptional academic records across programs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Muneera Batool, Associate Dean of Teaching and Learning, announced the Distinguished Awards in Teaching, celebrating faculty whose commitment to pedagogy deeply impacted the student body.<\/span><\/p>\n

Habib University Student Government (HUSG) Award for Excellence in Service was presented by Yasmeen Bano, Vice President of Student Affairs, and Sidra Tariq, Head of the Office of Student Life, honoring students for their leadership and community engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Iman Ashraf, Comparative Humanities, Class of 2025, was declared the class valedictorian.<\/p><\/div>\n

Dr. Shah Jamal Alam, Associate Dean (interim) of Undergraduate Education & Accreditation (UGEA) and Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, announced Iman Ashraf, student of Comparative Humanities, as the Valedictorian for the Class of 2025.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Awards Night 2025 was a recognition of excellence at Habib University. It honored the remarkable achievements of the graduating Class of 2025 and reflected the university\u2019s commitment to nurturing thoughtful, socially conscious leaders prepared to make meaningful contributions to the world.
